Breakthrough- A good album

September 2, 2009

Marie just bought Colbie Calliat’s new album, Breakthrough. We’ve quite enjoyed it’s melancholy and chill feel. One thing I don’t love about the album though, is that 85% of the songs are sad love songs. Did she just have a break up or something?

Confessions of a Shopaholic- a cute movie.

Confessions of a Shopaholic is a really cute movie! It’s a story of a girl who is completely addicted to shopping but finds herself in a crisis that eventually leads her to discover what’s really important in life. If you love a good chick flick, then I recommend this movie.

It’s rated PG. Morally it’s much better than most movies out there today, but it’s Hollywood, so they must throw in the obligatory references to pre-marital sex.

Here’s the trailer…

Viva la Vida

November 7, 2008

If you’re anything like me or my sisters, then you probably have been listening to Coldplay since their Yellow days. Chris Martin’s voice has always had that kind of resonance that immediately grabs you and pulls you into the song, but in their latest release, Viva La Vida, his vocals are even richer. Personally, it’s my favorite Coldplay CD so far. Another thing that I love about it is that a portion of the songs have some spirituality at play in the lyrics.

Life Teen’s movie and music reviewer, Jose Martinez, writes that Coldplay’s song, “Cemeteries of London” says a lot about not being able to hear God because of not being open to Him. Here are a few lines from the song:

“God is in the houses / and God is in my head / and all the cemeteries of London / I see God come in my garden / But I don’t know what He said / For my heart, it wasn’t open.”

So if you aren’t already a Coldplay fan, you should check them out at www.coldplay.com.
