My reason for thanks and other notes

November 28, 2009

thanskgivingThis year, like every year, I had a lot to be thankful for. To have the family I have is enough for me to live Thanksgiving Day to it’s fullest meaning and potential. As the holidays come around and the “warm and fuzzy” (as our lovely friend Mrs. Delafluer says) mood arouses into hearts and into homes, I feel a sense of wonder. During our Thanksgiving meal, I looked around the table and gave thanks for each individual that shared in the same celestial feast. (No joke, my mother and sister, Michelle, are amazing cooks!) I felt so safe. I felt so much love. So this year, like every year, my family wins for what I’m most thankful for!

So besides family, there is something else to be eternally grateful for…food! Naturally. The Thanksgiving dinner table made me smile. Even the turkey was great and I don’t even like turkey. Thanksgiving meals are great because it’s the only time you feel that it’s okay to stuff yourself! Like my favorite cat, Garfield, says “make your thanksgiving  one long meal, because the more you eat, the more grateful your gonna feel”.

On another note, (my sister Tina says that in her blogs so I wanna use it too!) Tina goes back to Nashville today. So soon. So sad.

On another note (wow it’s fun to use), my boyfriend was able to make it down for thanksgiving! Don’t we look cute together?

Birthdays are special…

November 25, 2009

I can’t help it.  I just love love love birthdays! They are the best thing ever. Birthdays are special. It’s a time to celebrate a person. Everyone is so individually special and unique. And on the day of the celebration of their birth, this gets to be recognized like it should! Now, I’m not just saying how cool birthdays are because mine is in two days. Okay, okay, maybe that’s slightly the reason! haha, kidding. For real though, I am not one of those people who try to hide my birthday! I just love birthdays! They are super fun. Here are a few things I want to do for mine:

1) Sleep in. (and not feel bad about it =)

2) hang out with my mom and sisters..a little shopping never hurt anyone.

3) eat pizza.

4) see New Moon…for the second time!

5) wear a party hat…the whole day.

Happy 19th birthday Carol Lynn!!

November 11, 2009

Hey everyone! This is actually Tess.  I am sneaking into Carol Lynn’s corner =). I just wanted to tell you that tomorrow is Carol Lynn’s 19th birthday! So I wanted to list out a few things that I just love about Carol Lynn. There are so many. So I will just name a few.

1) I think it only right to mention first that Carol Lynn is a huge inspiration to me and all my siblings. She is very spiritual! She has such a wonderful friendship with Christ and she teaches us all how awesome it is to have Him as part of our lives.

2) She’s gorgeous. And she knows everything there is to know about enhancing one’s looks through the art of make up, hair, etc… Carol Lynn knows so many great beauty tips. If you are looking for the right color foundation for your face or the perfect hair cut for you face shape, Carol Lynn is the person to turn to. When Carol Lynn went to prom this past year, she put her talent to work and made herself look like a princess. It was truly remarkable =).

3) The same humor. It’s really interesting but there really are somethings in life that only me and Carol Lynn think are funny. We laugh at the randomest things. Nobody else gets it. But I always know Carol Lynn will.

4) Chick Flick movie night. Carol Lynn and I LOVE to have chick flick movie nights. We get in comfy pj’s and put a lap top on a pillow in the middle of my bed. It’s super fun and super comfy!

I have to run but I really could go on forever! I feel so blessed to have Carol Lynn in my life. What could possibly be better then having a sister who is also your best friend?

Nashville and me

November 11, 2009

So,  Here I am in Nashville writing music and (hopefully) passing economics. Have I ever told you I am taking online classes?  Life has been good, and I just got back from a retreat called “Awakening”.  I helped out with the music part of the retreat!

The weather was amazing!! On Sunday we had mass outside, and I discovered how nature can create the perfect church.  I Received Jesus barefoot with fall leaves crunching under my toes and the rushing of the river for my communion hymn. Amen! On a slightly less hippie note, I had the great blessing of performing at the Waldorf for the Legionaries of Christ fundraiser dinner. The Purefashion national director Brenda Sharman was the keynote speaker! She is beautiful and holy, amazing combination!

Blessings,

Marie

Prayer

November 11, 2009

Giving our life entirely to God -  Not so easy is it? Giving our life partially to God – seems easy enough, doesn’t it? We all know that it’s easy to love God when things are going our way. But even the smallest thing of annoyance comes to play within our lives, and God is completely out of the picture.  What will it take for us to turn to God through it all? I’m young. I haven’t experienced too much. But even in my little everyday trials, I still turn away from God, determined to find healing in other places. I only give to the Lord what I’m in the mood to give Him. What will it take for me to give God everything; my sorrows, my joys, my weaknesses, my gifts, my relationships, my all? I desire to give God my everything but desire never remains enough. Through some personal experiences, I’ve discovered what it will take to bring us beyond desire and into a practice; prayer. Prayer brings us into a friendship/relationship with Christ. And when we deepen our relationship with Him, we know Him more and more. The more we know Christ, the more we love Him. And the more we love Him, the more we want to give Him.  Mother Teresa says, “ Prayer opens the heart, till it is capable of containing God himself. Ask and seek and your heart will be big enough to receive Him and keep Him as Your Own.”

You are what you wear

November 1, 2009

Fashionistas all believe one thing: you are what you wear. There’s definitely some truth in this. Here’s some visuals to prove it.

Let’s say you are walking down an aisle in a grocery store and you pass a woman dressed like this:women in suit

This woman’s outfit says business. She is looking to look professional for her job in the office. Wouldn’t you say so?

Now you start to move on to the produce aisle and you see a woman searching for the ripest mango. And she’s rocking these shoes and these pants:

shoeshiking pants

The first thing I would know about this woman is that she’s outdoorsy. She probably went hiking with her boyfriend for their first date. haha.

You move on. You reach the cereal aisle and you see a girl picking out some fruity pebbles. And she’s dressed like this:

hippie girl

I would pretty much think this girl is super cute! I would want to shop with her! By this outfit you can tell she has really mastered a pretty, hippie look.

Now use your imagination. Imagine all those different outfits that people are comfortable wearing. What you wear really does say a lot about the kind of person you are. I never really thought about that…until I was in the grocery store the other day. =).

I have one more visual for you. Imagine a girl in the grocery store dressed in these:

flannel pjsHaha I really don’t think I am a fan of wearing pajamas in public. Doesn’t that kind of say, “I don’t care about my looks. I am a grunge”? But what if the pajamas are cute. Because they can be cute! But still, we probably shouldn’t wear them out. Right? =).

(I put in the part about pajamas because of a friend who is a supporter of wearing pajamas anytime, anywhere. I still don’t think it’s a healthy habit though!)
