Chaotic time of the year
August 26, 2009
Okay so we haven’t made an entry for awhile. It’s mostly just because our lives have been a little hectic. Actually a few minutes ago, my little sister Megan came in with a big bag of cereal. She looked at me and flashed a smile before she started to turn the open bag upside-down. “No!!”, I scream. That didn’t stop anything. The cereal is all over. Haha, aren’t babies so cute?
Well I can’t really say baby anymore because Megan really isn’t a baby. She’s two now and totally living out the term “terrible twos”. But despite her bratty moments, she’s the cutest thing in the whole world. Some days I don’t want to do anything except hang out with her! She loves going to the park and she’ll stay on the swing for ever! There’s nothing I enjoy more then giving her a big push and then seeing the results; the cutest laugh ever. Oh yes, she takes my heart every time she giggles.
This time of the year is always crazy. I think everyone would agree. It’s the time of the transition between summer break and school. Carol Lynn started community college yesterday and she already has homework piling up. Marie left for Nashville on Monday. She went down there for a couple of days to song write. Keep her work in your prayers! I don’t start school until next week so I have this false feeling that I can sleep in all this week! I hope things are going well for you and they aren’t too crazy. If you ever feel like you just need to relax, I highly recommend the Hannah Montana Movie! We just bought it and I’ve quite enjoyed the few hours that i’ve spent watching it. And all you moms out there, I think you will enjoy it! It’s really cute.
Falling in love with falling stars
August 17, 2009
The other night I was star gazing with two of my girlfriends. We saw about ten shooting stars! It was fantastic. They weren’t the kind of shooting stars that seemed so distant, but rather they were huge and felt almost reachable. This morning I looked up exactly what a shooting star is. I never really knew anything about them except for the fact that they’re really cool to see! I ended up looking up the information at NASA for kids. Haha, this website makes everything so easy to understand! haha, I love it. Here’s what it said about shooting stars:
“A “falling star” or a “shooting star” has nothing at all to do with a star. These streaks of light you can sometimes see in the night sky are caused by tiny bits of dust and rock called meteoroids falling into the Earth’s atmosphere and burning up.”
So then I looked up what Meteor shower we are currently in. Perseids is occurring right now and it last from July 25- August 18th. It’s almost over! You have to make sure you star gaze soon so you don’t miss it! Perseids is one of the most admired showers and it’s mostly because of it’s magical display and how it occurs during summer nights. Summer nights with shooting stars…what’s more blissful?
Hair parting tip
August 10, 2009
So the other day I woke up and noticed that my hair had naturally parted in the middle. It was weird! I usually always have it parted to the side. But a change felt nice so I’ve been styling it with my part in the middle. Today I got on instyle.com (I love this site! haha, it has so many great little fun beauty tips) and I found this nice little tip for parting your hair.
“Want instant volume like Frieda Pinto without loading up on products and teasing your tresses? Part your hair on the opposite side that you usually do. Flipping your hair against the direction it normally falls creates an instant lift that lasts all day!”

Emptying ourselves
August 6, 2009
Just a few seconds ago, I sat down at my mom’s desk and noticed the calender right next to her laptop. It’s the type of calender that has a new quote to go along with each new day. In this particular quote calender are the wise words of Mother Teresa. Most of the quotes are no longer then two sentences, but still have so much depth and meaning. I noticed that the calender was still open on the page of august 2nd and so I started turning pages to reach today’s date. What really caught my eye was the quote for august 4th. It said this, “The more we empty ourselves, the more room we give God to fill us”. To me, this quotes states it so clearly. If we wish to be near to God, we just have to empty ourselves. But how do we empty ourselves? Simply by giving what we have. The key word really is “give”. The thing to remember is giving doesn’t have to entail a huge act. In fact Mother Teresa says, “We don’t have to do extraordinary things. We just have to do small things with extraordinary love”.
