Marie performing “Love Story”
June 29, 2009
Check out this video of Marie playing “Love Story” by Taylor Swift at the Coyote Grill in Fairfax, VA.
At one point I try to get Carol Lynn’s attention…it took her a few secs to notice me! Our older brother Joey makes a special appearance in this video.
Isn’t he handsome?!

Not By My Side – A corny 4th of July song :-)!
June 25, 2009
Hey guys! Sorry we haven’t written an entry in awhile. Life is CRAZY.
So the other day Michelle and I were talking about the 4th of July. It’s soon! We were just going on and on until I said something like, “Fireworks are great but don’t they seem kind of romantic? Don’t you think they would even be more great with a hand to hold?!”. “Totally”, Michelle agreed with my dreamy notion. Well this year, we both don’t have a hand to hold. But I am actually kinda thankful for that. We’re pretty young! But I don’t think that should stop us from DREAMING about a boy on the 4th of July! So after discussing this, I sat at the piano and wrote a super corny/cheesy song about it. Haha, I wrote it really quick and never imagined I would share it with anyone outside of my family. But I haven’t written an entry in awhile and I thought this song would sum up how I’ve been feeling lately! haha. Here it is.
Forth night in July
just one of those nights
you don’t feel near
I wonder why
And what’s the big deal?
of fire that lights the sky?
Cause when the sparks shoot off
they always aim for my heart
And when they hit the night sky
I wonder where you are,
not by my side
Traces of red, sparks of blue
fill the sky with such a view
I look around, searching for you
Hurry the show is almost through
And when the sparks shoot off
they always aim for my heart
And when they hit the night sky,
I wonder where you are
not by my side
Summer Busking!
June 17, 2009
Last weekend was my first weekend out busking (playing on a street corner) this summer. The day was beautiful! The sun shown in full splendor, and there was a light breeze to cool the happy Virginians. My harpist friend and I sang to the the streets of Alexandria, Virginia and had a blast doing it! What a blessing! My favorite part was seeing the little kids laughing and dancing as we played. Here’s a picture of us on King Street.
What to do for Father’s Day?
June 17, 2009
Mother’s Day is so easy. There is so much to do for your mom on that day! You can get her flowers, giver her a pedicure, a massage, etc…but it seems like Father’s Day isn’t that simple. So I’ve jotted down some ideas of things to do for your dad. I hope they help!
1) Clean the garage. Haha, that’s the first thing I know my dad would love.
2) wake him up with a hot cup of coffee. (I’ve never actually done this because I am never awake before him!!)
3) make his bed
4) dust and vacuum his office
5) Wash his car
6) make him a card (handmade things show a lot of love!)
7) bake him his favorite kind of cookies
8) Smile and say, “sure Dad, sounds greats”, when he wants to take you shopping for appliances or fishing tools.
hmmm…what else?
The right pair for your face
June 11, 2009
I have good news and bad news. The bad news is that I broke my favorite pair of sunglasses. The good news is I get to shop for another pair! This morning I went to instyle.com to read about what kind of glasses would work best with my face shape. Having a round face, Instyle says to avoid glasses with rounded styles but look for some with straight or angular lines that will lengthen the face. Here’s an example.

So what shades will work best with your face shape? Here’s what Instyle has to say.
Square. If your face is square then you should look for rounded frames or circular lenses, both of which will soften the face’s angularity.
Oval. If your face is oval then any style of sunglasses will work. Isn’t that amazing? All you oval faced girls, you are lucky. Here’s Beyonce showing off this fact!
Heart. Those with heart-shaped faces (like Jennifer Aniston) should go with delicate styles. Look for wire or over-sized frames that won’t draw attention to the forehead.
Oblong. If you have a long, oblong-shaped face, it’s best to choose oversize glasses that cover more of the face. In this photo, Liv Tyler’s glasses have extra thickness on the side frames, giving the illusion of more facial width.
Brave in our love
June 3, 2009
Has anyone ever heard of the women’s magazine SHE? I was flipping pages through it this morning and found some really fruitful information. SHE stands for safety, health, and empowerment. This magazine says that when women submit themselves fully to God and allow Him to transfer them into His original design, safety, health, and empowerment are the results.
I always like to learn about what it means to be a woman. I don’t like when a perception of a woman is simply “gentle”. Well yes, In some ways we are gentle! But there is so much more to us. We have total strength. And I think our strength lies in our willingness to be models of the Great Designer. When we say yes to God and allow Him to work in us, we perform an act of bravery. God doesn’t call us to take on the same form of strength that a man does, but he does call us to the same level of bravery. Men might appear more out going in their strength but we have hearts that are brave in their love. We must pray that our Heavenly Father will transform our hearts into love, purity, and holiness. We must pray that He’ll form our hearts into the essence of true beauty, into the essense of womanhood.
