A lonely weekend? I think not.
May 28, 2009
So Carol Lynn has been in California all week for our cousin’s graduation. She hasn’t been calling home too much and I think it’s because shes been really busy doing super fun things. I am so jealous. I would love to go and get a taste of the Cali sunshine.
It’s really strange even having one sister gone. Marie, Carol Lynn, and I do pretty much everything together. Whether it be the movies or music practice, we are the trio. Well it gets worse. This weekend Marie is leaving for California to meet Carol Lynn to perform at a Pure Fashion Show and my younger sister, Michelle, will be in Texas with her godfather. It’s funny how God works because I was really sad that I was gonna be the only Miller sister left at home. Well my sister, Tina, is actually here for the week! Yay! So at least one of my best friends will be present in my life this weekend.
Here’s a picture of Carol Lynn and my cousin at her graduation.

When we were in Denver last month, our cousins showed us this video. It’s super cute! I love it.
The March Sisters and The Miller Sisters
May 22, 2009
Right now I am reading Little Women by Louisa May Alcott. It is so good and if you haven’t read it, I highly recommend it. Little Women is a story of the March family who survive primarily on hope and love. In this family there are four girls who are content with anything, as long as they have each other. In my own family there are six girls. We are all super good friends and I like to think that we are the modern March sisters. March and Miller…similar, huh?!
I hope your days have been filled with sunshine!

Where does your garden grow?
May 22, 2009
Among all my other random interests, I have started to fall in love with growing things or rather theoretically growing things. I have not even started, but I have been reading all about gardening and am amazed by the process.
Yesterday I went over to “Auntie Brenda’s” house to see her garden. Auntie Brenda is one of those saintly women who is not your aunt by blood but by love! She graciously showed all her beautiful flowers and vegetables, and I was able to pull of a snow pea and take a bite!
I know what you are thinking! Gardens are allot more work than I think. I agree!
So I am beginning with tomatoes and watermelons.
I will keep you updated!
Blessings,
Marie

Search of the perfect dress!
May 16, 2009
I went to my first prom on Friday. I had an amazing time and never felt so dressed up in my life! I was in Denver days before the prom and came home so unprepared! I had no dress, no shoes, no nothing…I got back on Monday the 4th and Tuesday the 5th was titled “dress day”. It started out with Marie and I rummaging through every thrift store in town, trying to find a descent discounted dress- no luck there. Later that day we took Tess to her piano lesson and then made our way to the mall. The only problem was the mall was closing in one hour. With barely anytime and desperate need for a dress we all worked together. Marie and Mom took one half of the mall and Tess and I took the other. Minutes into this crazy shopping escapade I got a call from Marie saying she found a dress! Tess and I made our way as quickly as possible to find Marie holding up a beautiful long black dress. Unfortunately, that dress didn’t work out but we did end up finding another very pink one at that store. I would have never been able to accomplish that without Marie, Mom, and Tess. Isn’t it amazing what team work can do?
Happy Mother’s Day!!
May 10, 2009
Mothers are so great! They give so much everyday. They sacrifice so much for their kids. Marie, Carol Lynn, and I are so blessed to witness this with our own mother who keeps us strong with her prayers, support, and love. So this Mother’s Day, we tried to make her feel extra special. We got her some nice gifts and made her a fancy dinner. We could work on it our whole lives but I don’t think we’ll ever be able to repay the gifts she’s given us. I am so thankful for her! I could go on forever about how loving, cute, and awesome my mom is but it’s late. I should turn in. So goodnight to all! And a happy Mother’s Day to all you mothers! You completely rock!

Pics from our trip!

Hey everybody! We are back in Virginia! It feels great to be home. Although we will totally miss hanging out with our uncles, aunts, and cousins in Denver. Here are a few pictures from the trip.
This is me and my two cousins, Ella and Samuel.
Here’s some of the prom dresses that were modeled at the Pure Fashion Show in Denver.
Here’s Carol Lynn on the runway before the Pure Fashion Show in Kansas City.

Are you envious because I am generous?
May 2, 2009
“Are you envious because I am generous?” -MATT 20:15
I love to thank God. I love to thank Him for big things like my amazing parents and small things like the taste of coffee in the morning. I love writing Him songs about how thankful I am, and I love thanking Him in crowds or when I’m alone. I have no problem blessing Him for his incredible generosity.
Problems only arise when I notice others benefiting from my hard work and not thanking and blessing me for it. Even when they do thank me, its hard for me not to compare who worked harder, longer, or better. Why do my sisters enjoy the same privileges as I do? I’m two years older. Why did she get the same grade on as me on her test? I worked harder.
The obvious truth is I know that most of my life I have been enjoying the fruits of my parents labor. I am constantly “reaping what I don’t sow”. I love to thank God for this blessing as well, but it takes allot more strength to be content with my blessings when I see others have more or the same.
This story in Mathew hit me hard the other day….
”The kingdom of heaven is like a landowner who went out at dawn to hire laborers for his vineyard. After agreeing with them for the usual daily wage, he sent them into his vineyard. Going out about nine o’clock, he saw others standing idle in the marketplace, and he said to them, ‘You too go into my vineyard, and I will give you what is just.’ So they went off. Going out about five o’clock, he found others standing around, and said to them, ‘Why do you stand They answered, ‘Because no one has hired us.’ He said to them, ‘You too go into my vineyard.’ When it was evening the owner of the vineyard said to his foreman, ‘Summon the laborers and give them their pay, beginning with the last and ending with the first.’ When those who had started about five o’clock came, each received the usual daily wage. So when the first came, they thought that they would receive more, but each of them also got the usual wage. And on receiving it they grumbled against the landowner, saying, ‘These last ones worked only one hour, and you have made them equal to us, who bore the day’s burden and the heat.’ He said to one of them in reply, ‘My friend, I am not cheating you. Did you not agree with me for the usual daily wage? Take what is yours and go. What if I wish to give this last one the same as you? (Or) am I not free to do as I wish with my own money? Are you envious because I am generous?’ Thus, the last will be first, and the first will be last.” Matt 20
If I was in the story, I would be a laborer at the end of the day who wanted as much as the ones who started at the beginning of the day. Help me Lord!

I have an amazing uncle!
May 1, 2009
My Uncle Craig is truly outstanding. Today he took me, Marie, Carol Lynn, and Miriam (our cousin) out for the day. Last night I was telling him how much I love BBQ and he surprised us today by taking us to a great BBQ restaurant for lunch. It was so good! Afterwards we went to Barnes and Nobles and enjoyed some coffee and reading/chill time. It was so relaxing, blissful, and fun! After that our Uncle Craig took us to a beautiful church near his house. It was wonderful.
Hope the beginning days of May are treating you well!
-Tess
